what is the oldest university in the world?

The five oldest continuously-operating degree-granting universities in the world (oldest universities) are:
1- University of Al-Karaouine is a first university in the world located in Fes, Morocco which was founded in 859
 


2-  Al-Azhar University: Founded in 970~972 in Cairo, Egypt 



3-  University of Bologna: founded in 1088



4-  University of Paris located in Paris, France It was founded in the mid 12th century 



5-  University of Oxford: in Oxford, United Kingdom the oldest in the English-speaking world. Although its exact date of foundation is unclear, there is evidence of teaching as far back as 1096. The University grew rapidly from 1167 when Henry II banned English students from attending the University of Paris.
